BW meetings in Asia

A selection of people I met during 10 years of regular trips to Asia. Every single one of them is still present in my mind, their memory as alive as when I was viewing their face through my viewfinder, or when I asked whether they would fancy a photo portray.

Due to the long BW printing technique, few have seen the result, though I hope I haven't betrayed any of their expectations.

just like many others I have seen most if not all individual images, but as a set they are even better, I case where 2 + 2 = 5, I mean really, this is just amazing. I am convinced this deserves more than pbase, knowing you are such a story teller, both photo and written word, I would urge you to create at least a serious blog (that could be done on pbase, each photo could have a page of your musings in written text), a publication (would be happy to buy it for my christmas gift), or to be hang in a gallery. Go for it please. Peter

Luko This is one of the best galleries in Pbase, period. Every single picture is absolutely stunning, both on style and content. Have you ever done any exhibit on this collection or sent to Aperture or BW? Recent India pictures (first row) are great, but there is something more appealing about your older SE Asia pictures. They appear more passionate and "romantic". Technically all of them are flawless which is not a surprise, but what impresses me more is the sense of dignity and compassion that emanates from them in the tradition of HCB and the neo-realist film directors. Did you yourself scan them all from negatives? Best Prantik

beside that certain inner beauty which is so obvious in the portraits you're clicking, i very much like the time-less feel to this BW gallery (and i don't mean the 10 years during which you clicked all these) - and again - just like at the "Women in India", i have a hard time trying to choose which one i like most - every image is a story - an impressive and truly remarcable one.

While I have seen most of these in TE, here the essentials of them are collected in a series that I think do equal justice to the wonderful people that you portray. One can speak of technical perfections of each of these, but more to the point is the humanistic appeal that they convey. Bravo! I will return.

I like how you are using pBase, Luko. This BW gallery spanning years if I'm not mistaken as well as a mix of film and digital shows remarkable consistence. It's a whole different stry when you see them all in one place like this. Very impressive I must say... -F
