The third versions of the Leica Summilux-R, 35mm f1.4, the ROM one, is just remarkable . Previous incarnations were outstanding for Available light work but not for much else, they were Soft and not very sharp. But this one ,when stopped down to the optimum aperture of f4 ,is much sharper than the Summicrom or even the 60mm Macro Elmarit , which is a lot to say for a lens that was originally designed to capture contrasty night light. This dual nature , makes this lens to have a tendency to stay in camera, day and night, and for you to develop new shooting habits , like getting up close .
NOTE: It might be of interest to some that my SD9 does not have a Low Pass filter nor an Infrared Rejection, Interference filter, installed. Leica lenses have a superbly tailored Spectral response. Luis
