My family came from Bluetown at the turn of the century until around 1930. My Grandmother was Patience Staveley and my Grandfather was Arthur Chawner. My Grandmother's family were the Staveleys Four girls Phoebe, Tilly, Pacience, and Genty. They could have been from the Travelling Community at that time.

What a lovely website, so special to see so many very old photos, I am Rosie (Rosemary) Oram, (youngest of 6) now married and Rosie Snowden, I lived in Blue Town from 1969-80 or so, I am now 46, my mother is Doreen Oram and my father (that I have known him that much over my years) was Sidney Fedrick Oram, he owned a television shop at 45 High Street Blue Town. I am the only daughter of the family and the youngest, I have 5 brothers, James, David, Clive, Gary and Steven, we are not close but I still love my mother, who is now 83 and lives with another partner (not married) of 65! Lucky her! But he is very ill and looks older than her LOL!! sorry for the type means laugh out loud, but expect you all know that. I remember the Butchers and the Cobblers and the Post Office and Blue Town School which I attended until it was demolished and I had to attend Rose Street School. I remember those as a very little girl, I hope to fine some photos too in my Mum's memories tin, she suffers now from dementia,so memories for her are hard. I am researching HARVEY, WARD, CATCHPOLE, NOBLE & BOOTHER who all lived in the Bluetown/Sheerness area from 1890 onwards. The families had strong links to the Royal Navy and also the Merchant Navy. I am descended directly from the HARVEY line, but am interested in the others too.

I am researching Edwards from Blue town/Sheerness-my gt gt grandfather was a teenage butcher before joining the army. William Henry John Edwards 1866-1918 he had brothers that stayed in the area.

Just found this web site, after we was bombed in london we moved to Halfway for awhile, remember the Rio, think that it was painted, thought that the German planes use it as a landmark

its asking a lot i know,but can anyone tell me if they a family called singer in the bluetown area around 1929 to 1935 head of family was called frederick charles, he worked in the docks apparently and was well known in the area,any help appreciated thank you

I'm doing some family research and have my Grandfather's Marriage Certificate. Thomas William MAHER married Alice Maud Mary HAMILTON at the Catholic Church S.S. Henry and Elizabeth on 19/4/1899. He gave his address as 13, High Street Bluetown and she 90 Alma Road Sheerness.
Can anyone help me build the picture:
?is 13 High Street identifiable in any of the photographs on the site?
?Does anyone have information about the MAHER or HAMILTON families they can share?
