Sheppey United's best-ever player was probably Eddie Harper. He was born on August 22, 1902 in Sheerness, starting out as an apprentice shipwright. Harper first started playing in local junior football for Sheppey Junior Athletic before playing for Sheppey United in 1921. He left Sheppey United in May 1923 to join Blackburn Rovers and later played for Preston North End, Sheffield Wednesday, Tottenham Hotspur, and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
He died in Blackburn on July 22, 1959.
