On a slightly (very) related topic, I used to walk past the fire station with my mother as a small boy. The fire engine would often be sitting in the garage, with the garage doors open. In my mind it was a dragon, and I was absolutely terrified by those two little red lights at the top of the cab that used to flash. I reckoned when it was awake they would flash and it was coming to get me! There was very little my mother could do to make me walk past that thing!

This is a pub I remember very well, but I never went in there. I believe it was next to the fire station. Opposite was a road that led to our school sports ground. I walked from Jefferson Road through that alley on the side of the pub.

Does anyone remember what the alley was called at the side of pub?
