Tanzania 2007: Hunting with the Hatzabe's

The Hatzabe's are one of the very few tribes left, that live as hunter gatherers. They live around Lake Eyass in Northern Tanzania. Their language has click noises similar to those of the Bushman in Southern-Africa. Their hunting is done with bow and arrow only. Some of the arrows are poisonous.
We went on a hunt in the early morning with three men. They first shot a little bird. Then they went after a kudu, but it managed to escape. Later they caught some mice and finaly they shot two bushbabies. The biggest bushbaby was eaten on the spot half cooked, half raw after being thrown on a fire with fur and all. The other animals were taken back to the other members of the family. Every child got a black burned mouse.
