Photos were taken during a trip to Sulawesi between 23 of March and 20 of April 1997.
Started in Manado on the north coast and after exploring some ancient burial grounds and the Tondano Lake, continued by boat to Pulau Bunaken for some snorkelling and then back to Manado again and from here went to Tangkoko Nature reserve, where I rented a guide for some djungle trekking, my trip then continued by bus to the friendly town of Gorontalo where I did a day trip to Fort Otanaka and Lake Limbato, I then decided to fly to Palu and from there I took a taxi to Donggala beach where I relaxed a few days, the trip then went to Poso by bus and a minibus to Tentena at Lake Poso, did some excursions in the surroundings and visited the Salopa waterfall, from here my trip continued by boat across Lake Poso to Pendolo, continued next morning with several Bemos (Minibuses) and finaly arrived in Rantepao in the Tanah Torajah highlands, explored the vicinity and several traditional villages and burial places and the pig-market at Makale, after a long bus ride down the mountains I finally arrived at the great sea-port town of Ujung Pandang, visited Fort Rotterdam and also did a day trip to the Malino Valley and another one to Bantimurung waterfall, this was the end station and from here I took a flight to Bali.
