Wombat

A close cousin to the koala, this one is a resident at the Lone Pine Koala Reserve in Brisbane.
They are largely nocturnal, and he looks a little sleepy in the sunshine.
Of all Australian animals, this is the one I would like as a pet .... which would, of course, be highly illegal!
A protected species, but not, as far as I know, endangered.

Those claws look positively dangerous. He looks so sweet but I bet he can be mean!

This is a great shot!!! I'm always amazed at the animals you are able to capture in the wild. He does look sleepy, and I can see the resemblence to a koala.

The one in the San Diego Zoo is always asleep when I visit, but you've gotten a great shot with wonderful details. No idea they had such fine fur. I can see why you would like one as a pet. "V"
