Laudatio - March 27 - 05

This Laudatio is in the church of Louvain (Leuven) in Belgium. I shot this at a distance of 6 feet at 1/3 of a second handheld and I made perspective redressing to get a flat view of it.

The laudatio proclaims the reinstallation of the christian university of Louvain by Wilhelm van Bockel in his function of the mayor of the city of Louvain and deputy governor of that region in a medieval period. He cut the ribbon to the univerity on december 1st 1835. The university was in function at that time, since officialy she opened on october 6 of the year 1817.
The university was existing long before, but had been close by Napoleon' forces in 1797. After the fall of Napoleon in 1814, some groups of militants reopened the university.

the text in latin says this ;

The man of rare courage Guiliermo van Bockel, the Leopoldin Order proclaim that, during the years he was mayor of Louvain and deputy on the legal legislator's court of Brussels, of the region and served as a knight with born merit, who's aknowledge was used in a view of instaure the Catholic University of Louvain.
