I was beaten by the High Route in 2011 due to the deep snows and the slab avalanche zones on the Ledge above Mirror Lake. Recently, in 9 days of hiking, I repeated my 2008 route with Kelly dog, with the addition of Kalmia Lake. This year, there was more snow than I hiked through in 2008, which increased the challenge greatly. Overall, the weather was great, and we met the challenge of 40 miles and 16,000+ feet of gain on the cross country route.
