2011 is a record snow year! I recently made a recon trip to Morris Mdws over Memorial Day weekend to check the snow conditions. Snow level is extreme! -- In fact the snow conditions are so extreme, I was unable to complete the full route as planned in eary July. The Mirror Lake Ledge held a huge crevasse or slab avalanche zone with no margin of safety, which ended the high route for me. I'll admit, even with crampons and ice axe, I don't have the skills to safely cross it. I visited Grizzly, Mirror, and Papoose Lakes, Jorstad Cabin, and Bob's Farm. I traded high risk snow conditions for high risk creek crossings, and enjoyed a week in the Trinity Alps.
