During my time as a fire fighter on the Tahoe NF, I spent the weekends hiking in the Desolation wilderness with Toledo dog and the Serac. This photo is on the Pacific Crest Trail.
I did this place 1972 during the winter, white out and with my Lowa's and Tioga pack. Rented a mickey mouse Sierra Design tent from Jonas in Inglewood, piece of crap, but we made it work! I fell in one lake too, trying to get water (imagine today you can't drink lake water), and the Lowa's were ready to roll the next AM after sitting out all night. THanks.
