Thousand Island Lake and Banner Peak campsite- 1970s
Ansel Adams Wilderness
An incredible view of the golden age of backpacking along the John Muir Trail in the heart of the Sierra. No camping or fires are allowed here today, and bear canisters are required equipment.
Never been in this wilderness thanks for the photo. I met Ansel Adams at Berkeley circa 1974 while in the school of forestry, he gave a presentation at Wheeler Hall on his life. All my profs were there too. A nice thing they did to name such a beautiful place after such an amazing man. David

No camping, either--at least not within 1/4 mile of the outlet. And clearly they have enough wood there for a huge white-man's fire.
