This is a pair of BD Alpine CF carbon fiber hiking poles that I like greatly. I broke one lower section on a hike across snow in Jan 2009, when I postholed and fell forward. The next day I came up with a fix that might work. I hacksawed off the two carbon fiber frayed pole ends, sanded each end with fine emory cloth; only losing about 2cm of length total. I then cut a 5 inch piece of 3/8" aluminum arrow shaft inner sleeve that fit real snug inside the carbon tube, and then glued the sleeve in with slow drying JB Bond expoxy glue. I will run the middle section longer, and the lower section glue seam will fit inside the middle section, so I think this will fix will work well for hiking. I have trail tested the repair, and it works great.
