this gallery is dedicated to Ernest Hemingway and Gjon Mili, to "the emotional and spiritual intensity and pure classic beauty that can be produced by a man, an animal, and a piece of scarlet serge draped on a stick".

Well, the story of this gallery is that I was thinking of some selfportraits. As I have a selfironical view upon myself, my gal should have looked accordingly. On the other hand, the sp gal should have emphasised my latest researches in the photographic field (the paint with light technique), so, here is what has resulted. :)

I have a huge admiration for the work of the two giants of culture listed above. The irony of these photos are not addressed to the work of the two, or to the splendid ritual of bullfights, but to my work and myself only ( I'm a Taurus, by the way). Just think how far my silhouette is from that one of a toreador! :))) Starting from here, the scenography, lightning, clothing are just pretextes.

And now, here is how to do it:
1. make sure your studio is in total darkness;
2. put your camera on a sturdy tripod and focus where you will be staying;
3. you need a good flash and the posibility to do first courtain sync;
4. set your camera to bulb exposure and self timer;
5. now the difficult part: make sure to be in the posture you have in mind precisely when the flash fires, then, you have the bulb time (in my case 30 secs) to draw with the lamp whatever you want, keeping in mind the field of view of the lens;
6.then rest while the camera is writing the file and contemplate the output! :)
