Lugano, Switzerland is my home for 6 weeks. I love Lugano. It is animated, it is alive, it is well, it is vigorous, it has beautiful weather, it has a soul, it has a wonderful ambiance. Unlike so many American cities whose downtowns are dead, Lugano has a hearbeat that you can feel. It is located on the shores of Lake Lugano and is close to the Italian border. It is a city of many churches. One of the churches shown below is the Cathedral of San Lorenzo, in downtown Lugano. It's newly restored tower dates to the 13th century. The church is now undergoing extensive remodeling and was built in 1517. I cannot believe Lugano has a population of a mere 30,000. It seems much, much larger. It is a sophisticated, urbane and dazzling city. It is a privilege to be here and to be able to enjoy it. I can thank my very good friend, Sylvia Erb, for introducing me to Lugano. Thank you Sylvia !
