I am finishing the book " In the Land Of No Right Angles " by Daphne Beal, and decided to search the internet for pictures of Nepali people.
I found your website and your pictures are amazing and beautiful.
I wish I had seen them before I started the book because you have made the characters in the book so real to me. Now I savor the last fifty pages !!!
Thank you.

Very nice work. I especially liked the photo "Good night Lil Trapper". My sons and I have spent many happy days fishing on Lil Trapper with owner Pete Devine in Tofino. Would you mind if I gave a copy of the photo to Capt. Pete?

Dear Dr. Ron Geur,
Thanks for putting up those lovely photoes of Bhutan. I am from the Ministry of health, Thimphu and I am a good fren of Dorji Phub. You must be knowing him. What i like about your photoes is that they are natural and could be downloaded into good quality mode.

this photographic work of central asia is so comprehensive in scope and depth, and also precious. i wonder if you are considering taking it to a publisher?
Peg Lopata 04-Nov-2004 17:58
I am the assistant editor at FACES, published by Cobblestone Publishing, Peterborough, NH, USA. FACES is a educational magazine for children ges 9-12 about world cultures, places, issues and people. We accept no advertising.

We are currently working on an issue about Nepal and noticed photos on your website that we would like to use, if possible. We would need them sent to us as slides, negatives, prints or digitally at 300 dpi. If this possible?

Also do you know any photographers within Nepal (or elsewhere) that might have photos of Nepal that we may use? If you could recommend a professional commercial photographer in Nepal that would also be most helpful.

Thank you very much,
Peg Lopata

I just wanted to say that your pictures are beautiful. I spent 4 months in Nepal before I went to university, I was teaching in Pokhara and I think the people there are the most friendly people I will ever be lucky enough to meet. I am soon to be a qualified physiotherapist in the UK and hope to go back there one day to work in a hospital. I was intrigued to see all your pictures in the hospital. I'd love to hear more!

thanks

Wow,your pictures are just great. I agree, that the most impotant part of a country are the people who live there. Through my travelling I have also learned that. Now I am very exited about my trip to Nepal, and I am exited about the people who I`ll meet!Thank you so much!!!!

Dear Ron Geur,

I visited your site and went through every snaps of Nepali life, culture and places. I really found myself inside Nepal, though I'm physically far from Nepal now. I felt, after seeing all your pictures, I REALLY MISSED MY LOVELIEST COUNTRY!!! Anyone who just goes through these interesting pictures, s/he can't stop him/herself visiting the country of Mt. Everest and Lord Buddha!!! I'm really proud of your work and suggest you to add more pictures from the culture and people of Nepal's Terai (lower plain spread through east to west) region. You can hope to get more exiciting colourful customs among diversity of cultures!!!

Finally, I express my heartfull thanks for your wonderful job! To introduce Nepal and Nepalese culture, your pictures may play a sweet role in the international arina.

With warmest regards,

Thank you for sharing such wonderful pictures. My memory of my trip to Nepal in '98 has been mostly of the people and of the wonderful folks who were volunteering at a hospital we ended up at.

Great Website and the photo's ... are something.. really enjoyed checking out the photos. Also thought I would share a great website on Bhutan... a travelogue ... "Gratitude in the Himalayas". It written by Ms. Hob who visited Bhutan. Goes like this....

The airplane is several miles from its destination in Paro, Bhutan. It's late afternoon, and we're flying so low I can almost count the crowns of individual blue pine trees in the steep forests below. The airport's altitude is 7000 feet, and the plane is still in monsoon clouds. Soon I can see the branches on the trees, mingling tentatively with loose tufts of vapor, whispering the presence of a mystery. Below, I spot women in small rice paddies, close enough for me to be able to name the multiple colors in their kiras, the traditional women's clothing of the region... (for more visit

Hi Jim, after doing a little searching I found your web site. The people are fascinating. I find myself wanting more information about them, such as who they are, what is that building they are next too, how old are they... I guess if you don't speak the language those things might be hard to find out! Good to see you at the reunion.
Chris Hoffmann 02-Mar-2002 01:54
It's me again, Ron. Couldn't sleep (2 a.m. here in France), so I came and looked at your great, great pictures. Now I feel at peace again.
Aren't you going to put in other pictures of yours?
PS I have just recommended your site to acquaintances of mine who are going to adopt a Nepali child.
All the best

I am very keen on photography and I must say yours are great, just great.
Angeline 18-Jan-2002 03:56
Your pictures are loverly. Tks for sharing.

You're right, its the people in Nepal who makes the place really special, and your photos capture that essence. One can feel the innocence, simplicity and goodness - its obvious in their eyes, in the slightly awkward way they stand as they pose for the photographer...
Guest 29-Dec-2001 14:55
Beautiful images Ron. These faces are wonderful. I have a trip planned that is being delayed by the current unrest. Your images only make the wait all the more difficult.
