Looking down at Ben Thanh Market and traffic circles from the 42nd floor of the Bitexco Financial Tower. The red roof building is the famous Ben Thanh market in the upper right.
Ahhhh, Long ... you take me back some 47 years. Every morning I traveled that traffic circle on my way out to MACV HQ near Tan Son Nhut. The red-roofed series of buildings in the right center of the photo is the Market Place ... and if memory serves me, the street running to the right off of the circle is Trung Hung Dao. It was also at this circle where, still in early 1966, people were publicly executed (shot) for various crimes and their bodies left tied to poles for awhile as a public warning. In those days, the Caravelle Hotel was the tallest structure in all of Saigon (about 15-20 stories as I recall). So long ago in one sense; last month in another. Thanx again ...
