Long, it is a terrific view of Sperry Lake, between Sperry (L) and Morning Star (R).
Headlee Pass is off to the right, below lake level. Vesper is up the ridge to the left @ 2400 feet and a mile (plus) of good slogging up primo granodiorite (sp). We hunted goats up at this level and dug quartz crystals off the Sunrise Mine Claims, (to the left 1/2 mile, and down 1,000 feet).
We spent a couple warm nights in July 1966 camped just above the Sunrise Claims, and under Sperry Lake @ 800 feet.
We looked for world class garnets just off the west side of the peak, (the ridge that traverses over to Little Chief). The claim owners were (are) VERY SECRETIVE, but they got some placed in The Smithsonian! Look up garnets in the Museum and they are shown as, "Vesper Peak, Snohomish County, WA". We did not spend enough time exploring, although we found one campsite, but did not have enough time to explore, (remember, the ship was waiting for me to go to Pleiku). It was my final leave before crossing the Pacific.
