About Aircraft-Based Monitoring
Since 1997, this agency has contracted for aircraft equipped with regulatory compliance and research grade ambient air monitoring equipment. The aircraft have flown over 200 missions within and near Texas to gather information about atmospheric chemistry processes, meteorological phenomena, visibility degradation, and regional transport of pollutants in and near Texas. This aircraft collected data has been used to supplement data from the TCEQ ground-based air monitoring network, for inclusion in State Implementation Plans (SIPs), and to support recent state, regional, and national computer modeling studies.
