Santa Barbara Ghost Town

This town was used during the Spanish colony to produce huge tons of mercury from nearby mines to separate silver & gold from other metals from different mines in use during this period. Was transported to Huanvcavelica city by means of mule flocks. According to Spanish historians more than 10 million indians died working in these mines in 300 years of explotation and today you can still see the damage caused to the environment such as extreme deforestation of flora & fauna including lower size ichu plants. This mine was in production untill recent years, (16-20) luckily for mankind and environment, a new friendly substance was discovered by the Japaneese that separates better minerals and cost less to produce than mercury. Now is completely shut per secula, seculorum...
