Silk Road Journey

August 6 to Sept. 8, 2004. This was a 35-day tour across 7 countries (China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey), overland, from Beijing, China to Istanbul, Turkey. Sundowners of Melbourne, Australia was the tour company. There were 13 participants, including the tour leaders. There were 7 overnight trains, 1 night on a freighter crossing the Caspian Sea, and the rest of the travel by van or bus. I arrived a couple of days early in Beijing, and stayed in Istanbul a couple of days after the tour ended. This was truly the adventure trip of a lifetime!
