i stay in a small town, but there are vulcher large groups of them in our trees we do have wooded area around our house i never seen them up close until today 3 of them in our front yard about 2 ft away from our front door the cat that we have were hissing @ them but would not get close if s.o. knows any information about why they come every yr. this is the first yr i seen them up close in our yard.

Yeah,
depending on where ur from, they do hibernate in the winter and can't fly when its raining.. they will smtimes nest in hollow logs in the woods and they can't smell but have great eye site so if u have anything dead in ur yard or woods they'll be there.

The ons in my back yard are black with a short neck ,length 2ft. wing span 3 ft. this a conservative estimate. they seem to fear nothing. if you know anything about these guys ,please write in .thanks.
