The four of us continuing our travels with the Cairo to Capetown trip, stayed in Dahab for an extra 6 days and then made our way by taking the nightbus to Cairo, to catch up with our new passengers. The nightbus is a story all on its own and if you ever plan to take this journey I would recommend that you do not use the toilet on the bus; be prepared for the driver to travel at high speeds without any headlights at all (why do they all drive with their lights off? That is, until they see another vehicle, at which point they put them on full beam); the many police check-stops which involve the police jumping on the bus, waking everyone up and insisting on seeing their passports (this happened about every half an hour - the journey was 6 hours long!) and finally the driver sounding his horn at every opportunity. Forget sleeping - it was absolute hell.
That said, I really enjoyed Cairo - we did so many amazing things; pyramids, fellucas, valleys of the Kings and then back to Dahab (chill-out capital).
