River Hike, Part 3: Amphitheater

The game trail on the lower bench (part 2) led past the tamarisk trees into an
amphitheater having two large pour-offs (dry precipices over which water flows
during storms). Entering this space was akin to entering a large gothic church:
the size was awesome and the peacefulness soothing. The only sounds were the
light breeze in the trees and bushes, my footsteps, an unknown creaking
from inside my pack, and the camera's shutter.
