Arch Circumnavigation, Part 4: Backside of The Canyon

That the canyon (Part 3 gallery) was a dead-end gave me the opportunity to see terrain that I otherwise would have skipped---the back side of the sandstone massif containing the canyon. At first there was a lot of sandstone to walk on, but that soon petered out. Then the surface was sand, much of it covered with a cryptobiotic crust. I avoided the crust by following deer paths and little dry water courses. Photos were taken in April 2006.
