San Rafael Reef, Utah

It amazes me that there is cell phone service in places like this. Possible
reasons for the good signal: the proximity (about 1.5 miles) to Interstate 70
and a clear line-of-sight from Green River, (about 16 miles or 19km) away.

Joe Tripod, who ably assisted with this self-portrait, does not use cell phones---ever.

Dave, the reason is that you are sitting on 'white rock' where the etheric transmissions are blanked. On red rock the transmissions would migrate to the spectral frequency band and no Verizon phone is not equipped to work in this band.
