Standing as straight as a bamboo stick

Monitor and Merrimac Buttes (Moab, Utah) view map

Every so often I like to practice my mannequin pose. In this scene I am about half way between SR 313, where I started the hike, and the buttes. Geotagging is approximate.

Joe Tripod, who supported my camera for this act of documentation, also used good posture: he stood very straight and did not move. That's his style---I never have to remind him to do it.

That bamboo hiking stick had a short life. I bought it in Salt Lake City after flying there from Seattle and used it in Moab during this March visit. At the end of the trip I hid it in a tree above Negro Bill Canyon with the intention of using it during my next trip to Moab. When I returned in September, it was still in the tree but exposure to the elements had caused it to split along its entire length, rendering it useless. A small piece of it hangs on the wall next to my desk. Note that unlike other bamboo hiking sticks I have used, it lacks colored markings to indicate scale---on this trip I was too lazy to apply markings.
Geo-tagging is approximate.

A crest is a brand of toothpaste.

What's a crest?

I count at least 57 warriors on that crest.
