Cell phone image of Jeep Arch (also called Gold Bar Arch)

Jeep Arch (near Moab, Utah)

When I took this picture in 2007 with an LG 8300 phone, I was new to cell phone photography, so I was amazed not only by the phone’s ability to take pictures, but also by the quality of the images it produced. My original caption for this photo expressed that amazement. Including the photo in this gallery was an outcome of that amazement.

As I write this revised caption in 2014, I am still amazed by what cell phones can do, but my threshold of amazement has risen significantly, thanks in large part to Apple’s iPhone 5. The quality of photos produced by my iPhone 5 puts this modest image to shame. This photo stays in the gallery as a reminder of what used to be a wondrous thing.

It only looks slightly phoney. Better than a lot of photos I've seen on Pbase from good cameras. This one comes to mind

This really is good for a phone image. Technology can only get better, too.

Fantastic what they can do now -- great clarity. Do you like the LG? My new LG monitor is great so far. It can't take pictures though.
