Blue Angels 1: taking off from Boeing Field

Near BNSF's South Seattle Yard

While photographing trains at South Seattle (see the previous photo) I was jolted out of my railroad reverie by the insanely loud noise of jets taking off from nearby Boeing Field.

Suddenly the Blue Angels, with flight powder billowing behind them, zoomed over me. I wanted to cover my ears to ease the noise pain, but could not stop shooting. On other occasions planes have taken off or landed as I took pictures of trains here, but never with so much drama! This event was a complete surprise because I thought the Blue Angels had already left town.

Beautiful. I watched them about a mile from Selfridge Air Base awhile back.
