This quiet scene belies the elation I felt at reaching this point. My happiness-induced shock made me
forget to photograph myself here. However, in a rare moment of hysteria, I let out a loud "Yee-HAH!"
I also celebrated by removing the pack that had weighted me down for the previous 75 minutes.
The cairn proved that others had preceded me, which, given the simplicity of the
ascent, was not surprising. As noted in the previous photo, this terrain was an
ancient gravel bar far removed from the flowing river. Nature blows my mind.
