This view displays the main reason for my being here: to examine up close the northeast
slope of the Goose Neck, the hillside above and to the right of the river sandbar. This
inspection was the final phase in preparing for an adventurous exploration or the
Goose Neck itself. The narrow green line half way up the big red cliff at left is the
mesa where I hoped to stay overnight. But which route on the slope would get me there?
The jointed sandstone plateau below me was cool.
