Cart corral

Renton, Washington view map

This cart corral for shopping carts is typical of those found at grocery stores in the Seattle area. Some are wider, to accept two rows of carts. Most have a bar or chain at the far end to keep the carts from being pushed out of the corral. Even with corrals scattered around a parking lot, some people are too lazy to push a cart there, and leave the cart in a parking space or straddling a curb.

I think Safeway should hire dogs to help corral the carts. Un-corralled carts are at risk of succumbing to delinquency and other bad habits. They like to hang around in packs and ram cars, then silently snicker when the cars' owners discover the dents and scratches and look around for someone to cuss.
