Looking east from Castle Valley Road. The red slope behind the car is the south ridge of Ida Gulch.
The gulch (valley) is on the backside of the ridge. In the distance are buttes that sit atop the
ridge along the eastern side of Ida Gulch: above the car is Priest and Nuns (the spires at left)
and The Rectory; to the right is Castle Rock (also known as Castleton Tower). In the 1960s a
Chevrolet commercial featured a car placed atop Castle Rock. Other things have been put there,
including Dan Dunn's Jeep, on its return flight from Mars ( http://www.pbase.com/dan_123/image/29676842 ).
