everything else (my route). The Silver Island Scenic Byway more or less starts here.

No, Donner Springs is nowhere near Donner Pass (California), but it is ten miles west of Donner-Reed Pass (Utah), and is at the eastern base of Pilot Peak. It was the first source of water for pioneers after crossing the Bonneville Salt Flats.
