I’m standing at the apex of the spiral of Spiral Jetty, earthwork art along the northern shore of The Great Salt Lake. Behind me stretches Great Salt Lake for miles and miles, interrupted only by the Union Pacific Railroad's causeway, about 15 miles (23 km) distant.
