The upper photo shows blackberry vines intruding along the newly-constructed extension of the Puget Power Trail in Kent. (However, in 2017 this section does not have an official name. City of Kent documentation refers to it by its project name of "Regional Connector Trail.") The lower photo shows the same scene after I had attacked the offending vegetation with my pruning shears (standard equipment on all my trike rides).
Performing trail maintenance late at night is a bit odd, but since I do a lot of night riding, it makes sense to prune in the dark. At night such work does not get in the way of pedestrians or cyclists. This was my first ride on the trail and I like to think that my effort was a fitting way to celebrate it.
Both photos were hand-held and I think I was standing near my trike. The scene was illuminated by my trike headlight, a Philips SafeRide (love that light!).
Construction of this extension completes a trail connection between the Green River Trail and the Interurban Trail, a worthy accomplishment.
This took place at the center of this Wikimapia aerial view.
