Sofa lift kit

Our sofa needed to be elevated to give my wife’s knees some relief. After dreaming up overly-complicated designs of wood frames, I devised this simple solution. Each leg sits on a brick, providing the required change in elevation. Behind each of the rear legs is another brick and a piece of wood that keep the sofa away from the wall so we can have access to an electrical outlet. (The sofa tended to creep toward the wall.)

This was an inexpensive solution: the bricks cost about 40 cents each and the wood scraps were on hand in the garage. Total cost: about $2.40. The design will not win any awards for elegance, but it works. Visitors don't see what's visible here because it is hidden by an end table that stands in the foreground. The front bricks are so inconspicuous as to be nearly invisible.

My wife is happy by the change. I am happy because she is
happy and because the solution was so inexpensive.

I have often wondered why some furniture like sofa's do not have adjustable legs.
Considering the large difference in height of people who use their products, furniture manufacturers have no consideration about height of the seats which of course equals comfort.
