Leaning into the curve

Gilluly, Utah view map


A westbound Union Pacific train, having come over Soldier Summit, leans into the horseshoe curve at Gilluly on its way to Salt Lake City. In a few minutes, after descending about two hundred vertical feet (60m), it will pass under US 6.
