This is one of my toughest shots ever - backlit and too dark in the undergrowth with leaves and branches in the line of fire, an auto focus nightmare. I used flash on this one to bring out more detail at the risk of getting that odd "flashed eye" look.
The very short tail and relatively tiny size (about the size of a Zebra Dove) convinced me that it's a PHO, rather than a Brown Hawk-Owl.
