We had a most wonderful trip to Xin Jiang. It started with a gathering at Hong Kong's Tsim Sha Tsui at 5:30am on July 1. The first day ended with a sunset over The Multicolored City at 22:00. Thereafter we had another 10 LONG and tiring days. The land is vast and we traveled over 4,000 km in 11 days. We almost broke our backs crossing Tien Shan (Mt. Heaven) in 4WDs. Fortunately, we were compensated with the best of company, the best scenery, the best whole lamb lunch, and accommodating weather. This must be one of life's best moments.
We must thank Yvonne for arranging the trip. I must also thank other memebers of this trip for sparing me time to take photos. I hope you find the photos worthy of the many hours of traveling and waiting.
The places we visited in order were:
1. Multicolored City 2. The Burning Mountains 3. Kanas Nature Reserve 4. Rainbow Beach 5. Demon City (Many Chinese Kung Fu movies including Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and Seven Swordsmen of Mt. Heaven were made here) 6. The Sayrim Lake 7. YiNing River 8. The Naraty Grasslands 9. The Bayanbulak Grasslands 10. Sunset at The Kaidu River's Nine Turns 11. Crossing Tien Shan 12. The Mystic Gorges of Tien Shan 13. The Kizil Grottoes (Chinese name literally means a thousand budda painted on grottoes) 14. Tien Chi (Lake Heaven)
WOW! Yours are certainly one of the best galleries on XinJiang that I have come across. And obviously your trip was no standard itinerary. Was it a photo-tour customised specially for your group? I can see that it involved some 'tough' travelling. But I am sure the wonderful photos make the trip worth all the travelling for you, as all photographers will understand. Cheers.
