Highland MD. I heard him from inside my house. Very loud and nothing I'd ever heard before. I thought it was a wounded dog or something. He was hiding up in a maple overhanging my pool. When I approached he transferred to a tall pine. Still hidden. I waited a long time even after he went silent. Then he darted out and flew off. I only saw him flying overhead, but this photo combined with "Birding by Ear" confirmed it.
