Nope – this is a real live fish swimming in a fake real sea. Supposedly of Mediterranean style.
It’s in the National Maritime Aquarium in Plymouth and is part of their Mediterranean Sea exhibit, I’m afraid I don’t know what sort of critter this is because not all of the exhibits had much info about what was in the tanks. (Some parts were better than others in the info department.)
We’ve been at the Aquarium because the weather is frightful and we have been entertaining visitors (DMs family) so we needed an indoor “attraction” that’s not closed at this time of year. So by a process of elimination we picked the aquarium and here we are.
Personally I thought it was completely fab and loved it all although DM’s view was that some of the exhibits were a bit “half-arsed”. I think he has been spoiled (in a sense as have I) by the wonderful aquarium in Darling Harbour in Sydney. We both agree that was the best we’ve ever seen (albeit separately) and is streets ahead of this one so that it’s almost impossible to compare the two.
However, Darling Harbour is 10,000 miles away, which is too far for a day trip and the Plymouth one did hit the spot for me very nicely.
Last year was a joy.
