As many who read these pages know, I have a little “hi-fi” in my kitchen. Well, to call it a hi-fi is a bit over optimistic because it’s really just a little single unit with a CD player, a radio and an amp in one little Teac compact unit (now any true hi-fi buff is going to be cringing at the thought of the fact it’s not separates, even if they’re not cringing at the brand) but it’s got a good sound for such a small bit of kit and it makes a big noise hooked up to a pair of Celestion bookshelf speakers.
My kitchen-fi is my lifesaver in many senses because I reckon that if I’m a bit blue or even completely cheesed off or even overwhelmed, then whap on the kitchen-fi with something jolly and I can be turned around in a few minutes. This is true today, when Big Audio Dynamite’s first album is popped on and I am bouncing around in an instant. I love that album and this song is just perfect - bouncy, bouncy, bouncy but with some serious messages!
…….# when you reach the bottom line, the only thing to do is climb, pick yourself up off the floor, don’t know what you’re waiting for……..
Yep – the irrepressible and completely bloody wonderful Mick Jones, along with his BAD mates have hit it right on the head. The end. The bottom line.
…….# pick myself up off the floor, don’t know what I’m waiting for……
I am taking a dose of their medicine and this is what I find….
#When all around you seems like hell
Just one sip will make you well
As Mick himself would have said:
I like a bit of a cavort!
There were crossed lines last year!
