15th April 2007 - celebrating 1,500 consecutive days

….not bad going huh?

Yes, it’s true – I have today posted my 1500th shot in my PotD gallery. One for every day of the last 1500 days, without a break, no matter what.

During that time I have:

1. spent 7 days in bed with salmonella poisoning
2. been in hospital and had a general anaesthetic
3. moved house (twice)
4. travelled countless thousands of miles around the world
5. shot my photo a day in at least eight different countries
6. met many other pad folks from around the world

Well, isn't that enough?

I’d say so – I think I’ve crammed in my shot each day pretty well considering a lifestyle that surely most would have to agree is hectic.

So today, the queen of the cack has decided to do her own self justice for once and I can honestly say this is the shot that I am probably most proud of in the whole four and a bit years.

I spent an hour in the studio shooting this evening and even before I took this I’d managed to find myself some shots that I like very much indeed. Then I was moving my backlight and looked up at the leaves directly through the soft box and ‘eureka’ – a real moment of revelation. So, as Rene once suggested to me, I turned the shot back on itself and got this. Rene – you see sometimes what you say does stick so thank you for your kind support!

Maybe there are many days when my PAD can’t be called ‘great art’ but as I have said many, many times before, shots like this would not have found their way out of my camera if I’d not been forcing myself day-in, day-out no matter how dreadful I’ve been feeling or how little time I’ve had.

I think (and I don’t much suppose I care who thinks otherwise) that this is some achievement in more ways than one, when I think back to my early days. Oh and no-one has done this ever before on pbase.

Last year, we were 'going down the pub' just like Sham 69!

Oh just stop being humble, you are a all around phenom and I love it dearly that I can come here and see the world through your eyes and heart. This is just surreal, I'm thinking it's a Bird of Paradise bloom but green? I've always loved high white and you have done it WELL.
