I’m a great believer in using all of your senses as I’ve said before. I like them to work together to bring joy to all of my sensory receptors. That’s why I love scented plants so much – I can never understand why you’d buy a rose for the garden without smelling its perfume first, likewise honeysuckle and a whole host of other plants. There is nothing better than a stroll round the garden at dusk and smelling the scent of honeysuckle in the breeze.
Never before had I realised what a heady perfume bluebells have though. David had been out in our studio yesterday taking shots of bluebells picked from the garden and he brought back into the dining room three little vases of them. I suddenly became aware of a lovely scent and managed to use my powers of deduction to suss out that it was coming from the bluebells! Now there’s clever (not).
So, he challenged me to do some shots of them and see if mine were as good as his….of course mine are rubbish compared to his but anyway, this is one of them. No matter how long I take photos, I’ll never be as skilled a photographer as he is but I like to think that I keep him from being complacent because I’m creeping up behind him.
I was trying for a sort of ‘washed out’ look like Rosie’s beautiful clematis yesterday but failed dismally because I really find it had to let go of my colour!!!
Anyway, having failed to match up to the challenge of either David or Rosie, I still like this shot probably more than anything I’ve done since the petal hearts….AND this has given me an idea for my next big ‘art’ project. Given that I’ve been floundering on it, I’m relieved to have come up with something. Since I have been selling some of my photos, I have found I feel the pressure of coming up with ideas very wearing. However, that said, the new camera fund is growing by the day and that’s a relief given the decidedly precarious position of my current weapon!
Last year that beautiful salad dressing pourer was getting an airing for the second day in a row!
