15th January 2005 - a miserable day wrapped up in love

Since stepping out of bed this morning, this day has been a miserable one and I’m glad it’s over. It’s been another ‘big day’ in the Spurs calendar – we’ve played Chelsea – the top club in the Premiership, and a local rival.

When I got out of bed I realised I’d somehow managed to make my back ache like fury. I don’t know how I did it but it’s been aching so badly it’s cast a cloud over the whole day really.

While DM was in the bath, I popped out to feed and water our ‘little critters’ – the four hens and two wabbits that make up our little clan with the dogs and us. As I was feeding ‘ranch rabbit’ aka Truffle, I glanced over to ‘bijou bunny’ aka Fudge and realised he was dead. We were in a hurry to get out so all I could do was wrap him up in a cloth in preparation for burying him tomorrow. I’ve only got one left of my little clan of ‘rescued’ rabbits now.

There were problems with the trains on the route into London we normally take to get to footie and so we took another route…..only to discover there was a rugby match on in Twickenham causing the train to be delayed and full to bursting. GGGGrrrrrr.

In the Bell and Hare the usual crowd were assembled on the hill and as I stepped up to meet them, I stepped in a big pile of dog poo. I started to feel as though it’s not going to be my day.

We get into the ground and I discover, to my immense irritation that I don’t have a CF card in the camera that I’d charged the battery for especially and David didn’t have a digital camera on him so I couldn’t take any pics.

Spurs played well but somehow managed to end the game down two goals so we lost 0-2. The score line is not a fair reflection of the game or the performance so I’m really gutted. Anyway, we only drop one place (to 8th) as Charlton go above us but the pack behind us is tightening. We only have a couple more ‘crunch’ games left to play, both away, to Liverpool and Arsenal – all of the other ‘big’ fixtures for us have now been played. Technically that means we should do well in the remaining fixtures if we can keep our form up so that is something to look forward to. (She says, trying desperately to cheer herself up.)

It took forever and a day to get home and we got abused by some Chelsea fans on the way. I don’t get that. It seems so pointless really. So for anyone who thinks that’s a great way to behave, all I have to say to them is ‘where were you when you were shit?’

On the train on the way back, we realised that David was going back down with a virus that has hit him three times before – a really nasty shingles-like thing. So he’s feeling rotten too.

I took this terrible photo when we got home and as it’s the only one I took, I decided to post it anyway – one thing it does is show what a frustrating, miserable day we had – no CF card illuminated and to cap it all, the wrong white balance! Pah, pah, pah! I suppose I could have converted it to b&w and added some grain to cover up my inadequacies but that feels like cheating to me. I can't believe I will post a worse photo this year so again, looking on the bright side, at least that's over with!

Why was this day wrapped up in love…..well, even after four and a half years, I still thrill to wake up wrapped up in DM’s arms. Stupid and girlie I know but there you go. It’s the good side of an otherwise rotten day. The other end of the day saw him sending me text messages while sat opposite me on the train. So, even after the day’s events, that same love came back to envelop me again.

Last year at this time, I was thinking about footie too - but over a few beers and a curry!

Now that I have a card reader I keep forgetting to put the CF card back into the camera! Oh, and Liverpool are getting 4th spot - sorry! :-)

I use a Mac PowerBook with a adaptor to accept a CF card. Of course since I can't see the card when its in I often leave it in the computer. I am real familiar with the above message.

Love your long comments.

Just starting our day out here and already I feel better about it. :-)
Linda you have put things into perspective for me at least. BTW, our football team
(American) the Pittsburgh Steelers won yesterday and move on in the playoffs.
Hope things go better for you today!

Spooky, there's no card but a ghostly image is there. 'White noise' maybe :-0 (I still think you will beat Arsenal and come 4th in the table.)
