I’ve been at a meeting this evening, working until 11.30pm. It was held in a local hotel, where the ‘refreshments’ were two machines, one filled with yoghurt coated raisins and the other will jelly beans…..now there’s healthy. The buffet meal consisted of fried things and sandwiches laden with mayonnaise. No wonder obesity is such a problem these days. When I’m in this situation, all I want to do is have a plain, undressed salad as long as it is full of interesting stuff and has some protein in it.

I’m not sure if it’s just me who thinks these buffet meals are unappetising and unhealthy or if other people really enjoy them and I am the ‘odd one out’. You always see people tucking into them with gusto but I can’t decide whether that’s because they need ‘fuel’ or if it’s genuine pleasure at what they see.

Again I wonder if hotels continue to churn this stuff out in the mistaken belief that their customers like it or if it’s a total disregard of their customers needs.
