A bit of a do tonight.

Me an ‘im went pub quizzin’ again.

We didn’t win but we had a good time nonetheless.

This posting was done very late at night, after a brilliant evening out. We rarely go out midweek (other than when I am out working) and that applies especially to weeks when there is 'school tomorrow' for me. It's not such an issue for DM who organises his own work and can take a late start if he feels like it. I'd wanted to be out of the house so I could be away from my PC for a while. However, the very act of getting out was really good for my spirits.

Pub quizzes are a way for pub managers and landlords to generate custom in the middle of the week, when trade would otherwise be quiet. Essentially the one we go to has eight rounds, the first is photos of 'celebs' that you have to identify and the remaining rounds cover all sorts of trivia, news, sports and music - it's a bit like Trivial Persuit but you put your answers on a sheet of paper and they get marked by another team. The winning team gets a cash prize.

Everyone wins, the pub gets more custom, the punters have a good time and the winners get cash! That's the sort of deal I like, one where everyone wins, not one where everyone loses.
