In a desperate attempt to curry favour with my parents I post this picture – yep, I’ve gone from posting three days of my feet (obviously at the bottom end of my body) to a half-head and shoulder! Bra strap exposed and all!!!
My parents have just arrived home from a fortnight in Italy (lucky them) and I picked them up from the airport yesterday afternoon. When we got home they gave both David and I gifts. David’s gift is his PotD today too. My gift was this pair of wonderful Swarovski crystal earrings. Now I’m not a lover of expensive jewellery as I’ve said before so this pair of earrings is probably the most expensive pair I own. I love junk jewellery and if it sparkles and dangles then I’m already nearly convinced it’s for me. These are perfectly sparkly and dangly and a much higher class of earring than I would normally buy for myself.
Mum had taken note of me talking about my love of sparkly things and decided this would be the perfect gift for me. I love them.
We had a cup of tea and a chat before they got in their own car that has been parked here for the last two weeks and went home. I had a call a couple of hours later asking me where their anniversary card was. They’d opened all their cards when they arrived home and there wasn’t one from us. I hang my head in shame. I’d thought about their anniversary and realised they would be away for it but didn’t think to get a card anyway. They’ve been married for 45 years this year so it’s something to be proud of and I just thought they’d have commemorated that in Italy and for some reason wouldn’t expect a card when they arrived home. I was wrong!
So Mum and Dad, here is a photo of your oldest ‘little girl’ wearing the gorgeous sparkly earrings you thoughtfully brought home for me while I was thoughtless enough to miss your anniversary. I’m sorry.
Happy 45th Wedding Anniversary to you both.
I love you more than I can say and I’m ever so sorry for being a thoughtless child.
